I'm currently reading The Devil Wears Prada, a great book about a girl who works for a fashion magazine and has a hellish boss. She, along with every other person in the office, is required to wear only designer clothes to work but during her first 3 months with the magazine, she thought the clothes she had were just fine. Coworkers thought otherwise and eventually threw Prada and Jimmy Choo at her in a desperate attempt to ditch her current rags (rags = clothes from Banana Republic). When I read that, I was like, "Hey I thought Banana was pretty cool!" I guess I wear rags too.

Just watched Closer which, if I may warn you, is an excellent movie. Why the warning? Because it's "horribly depressing."

I just watched The Hours today, thanks to Netflix. As great as the 3 main women were, I have to commend Ed Harris. He's an amazing actor. Time to see Pollack.

When Nicole Kidman won the Academy Award for this film, everyone kept saying "it's finally her time to win." Which, to me, was an interesting comment. Granted she was nominated for an Oscar the year before for Moulin Rouge, but they all made it seem as if she had tons of amazing roles to her credit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Moulin Rouge was her "breakthrough" performance. Some say that about Eyes Wide Shut, but I never saw that so I can't comment.

If there's anyone for which the comment "it's finally her time" would be fitting, that'd go to Julianne Moore.

After almost 2 years, I've FINALLY gotten myself my very own pair of skates. They arrived, and they're just beautiful!!!

For anyone who's interested, they're Jackson DJ2071 Misses' Freestyle. Funnily enough, I also won a pair of skate guards off of eBay, which arrived a few days ago. So for awhile, I had skate guards but no skates. Now I just need to find a Jackson retailer around here so I can get the skates heat-molded to fit my feet and get the blades permanently mounted. The closest rink I know of that could do this is the Oakland Ice Center.

One thing I'd like to do this winter is skate at the Kristi Yamaguchi Holiday Ice Rink up in SF at the Embarcadero Center. An outdoor rink, it's open from November through January. It'll be a nice way to help break in my skates. Interestingly, I came across an outdoor ice rink in Palo Alto on Middlefield (just minutes from work)- Winter Lodge.
