Even in Japanese, The Simpsons is still funny.

I recognize this now. It says Tokyo!

東京

By far the funniest thing I have seen here in Tokyo is the following logo on a t-shirt that some girl was wearing:

FUCK YOU
THIS IS MY COSTUME

Also, I have decided that we Americans are gluttons! No wonder why we're so much bigger and fatter than everyone else!!

Just arrived in Japan this afternoon. It's 10:46PM, which means it's 6:46AM to my tired self who is still on PDT time. I've been posting pictures in my trip album as I go along- look for more to come as the trip progresses.

Day 1 observations:

  • Narita Airport (the major airport for international flights, like SFO) is actually about 1.5-2 hrs away from downtown Tokyo. Along the bus ride from the airport to the hotel, I refrained from napping so that I could check out Japan. One thing that struck me was how green it was. Makes me think Ireland is this way as well. Also, I saw tons of Toyota cars, but models that I've never heard of before. For example, the Toyota Comfort? Interesting.

  • Just about everyone has been talking to me in Japanese right off the bat, which makes me think that I don't look as different as I thought I would because I'm from America.

  • Knowing Japanese would be a HUGE HELP right about now!

I bought this at a 7-Eleven near the hotel; it was very tasty! If only green tea ice cream were more popular in the U.S.

Do I really need more than 5 pairs of pants on my trip? 5 pairs of shoes? Decisions, decisions.

Things I need to get while shopping in Tokyo:
1. Akeboshi album
2. Koge Pan and/or Domo Kun stuff. Note that I do not really care much for Japanese anime or cutesy stuff (maybe I did when I was in elementary school, what w/ all the Sanrio crap everyone toted around), but these 2 things are just hilarious. Allow me to introduce them to you:

Koge Pan

Domo Kun

4. Cute pet treats for my beloved doggies and their doggie friends
5. If I can find anything that actually fits me, then maybe some clothes. Who knows- maybe a Japanese XL will be too small for me!!
